A phased expansion plan that will double boat production.

Nautique, a subsidiary of Correct Craft and leading manufacturer of waterski, wakeboard and wakesurf boats on the market, came to us with the goal of doubling their boat production. We were tasked with determining how to expand Nautique's manufacturing departments within their existing (550,000 SF) footprint and allow space for future expansion. The entire project needed to be completed without stopping current production.

Our crucial first step was to develop a master plan. After careful examination of Nautique's existing floor layouts, and a review of their production process, it was determined that the boat detailing departments including upholstery, machine shop, and final detail, as well as marketing services, and shipping would be moved into the 300,000 SF facility to optimize production flow. This move allows for the dirty and clean manufacturing processes to be separated into two buildings. In addition, 80,000 SF of Nautique’s 250,000 SF facility will be renovated to expand the milling and tooling processes. An extensive, free-standing, overhead crane system will be installed, clearing floor space and maximizing productivity. All new LED lighting will improve assembly accuracy and potentially speed up assembly operations.

Nautique is also making a significant investment to install a high efficiency, chilled water HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) system in all their manufacturing facilities. This will improve ventilation and save energy while improving indoor air quality by reducing air contaminants, expelling CO2, drawing in fresh air, and controlling temperature and humidity—not to mention a differentiator for hiring and retaining the best employees.

In addition to the new increased production capacity, this renovation will create a future place for dealers and clients to interact with the Nautique brand. Additional projects are planned for the expansion over the next several years as Nautique plans for continued growth in the boat manufacturing business.
