Enhanced manufacturing facilities and happy employees power Nautique’s growth.
We collaborated with Nautique, a leading manufacturer of waterski, wakeboard, and wakesurf boats, to double their production capacity to 20 boats per day. The project required expanding manufacturing within Nautique’s existing 550,000 SF facilities without halting ongoing operations, while also creating space for future growth. Our team tackled this challenge by analyzing production flows, optimizing processes, and reorganizing department layouts. By separating dirty and clean manufacturing processes and relocating marketing and shipping departments, 80,000 SF was freed up for expanded boat shell production and additional upholstery stations, improving efficiency and eliminating the need for a second shift.
The redesign enhanced material management with direct delivery to indoor stockrooms and processing areas, protecting materials and streamlining assembly. It also accommodated longer boats and future robotic automation. Employee well-being was a priority, with upgrades including energy-efficient LED lighting, increased natural light, renovated break rooms, and air conditioning across the 280,000 SF facility. Safety and flexibility were improved with a comprehensive fire sprinkler system and an overhead crane, engineered with new steel columns to support loads without altering the existing roof structure. Air quality was elevated with a dust collection system in lamination and grinding areas.
These solutions not only met the production goal but also improved employee retention and material quality control, creating a safer, more comfortable workplace. The renovated facility now showcases Nautique’s brand and supports planned expansions, positioning them for continued success in the competitive boat manufacturing industry. Through strategic planning and innovative design, we delivered a space that balances current needs with future potential.
